The Dandelion gets its name from the French dent-de-lion, meaning "lion's tooth". Dandelions are one of the most vital early spring nectar sources for a wide host of pollinators. Dandelion leaves act as a diuretic, increasing the amount of urine your body makes. Dandelion may also help improve the immune system. Herbalists use dandelion root to detoxify the liver and gall bladder, and dandelion leaves to help kidney function.
Raw dandelion greens contain high amounts of vitamins A, C, and K, and are moderate sources of calcium, potassium, iron, and manganese.
