There are about 1,500 different species of starfish that occur on the seabed in oceans of the world. They live from the tropics to frigid polar waters. They are found from the intertidal zone down to abyssal depths, 6,000 m (20,000 ft) below the surface. Some like the Crown of Thorns are poisonous.
These colourful starfish were photographed separately and then arranged in Photoshop.
