This exquisitely rendered ensemble looks like a just picked field bouquet, but it combines flowers found in the wild, like the violet and the cornflower, with cultivated exotic species, like the red woolflower (Celosia) at the upper right. They do not all bloom at the same time. The blue and white morning glory blossoms in the spring, and the dark purple field scabious only from August. This old painting is from the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. The painting is in the Public Domain and is free to use with the permission of the museum. As this is an old painting there are some age marks and cracks on it.
